Students will explore form and surface in a demonstration-based atmosphere while learning to wedge, center, and throw basic forms such as mugs, bowls, and vases. This class is a must for the novices as it will focus on proper techniques that will be crucial as long as you aspire to make pottery on the wheel.
This course will introduce the basics of hand-building including pinch, coil, and slab construction, as well as a variety of surface and finishing options. Both sculptural and vessel options will be explored.
If you have ever said ‘I wish I could draw!' or thought it was too late to learn, then Beginning Drawing is a classically-based course geared towards you. In this course you will be guided through the principles of drawing by an experienced teacher, using hands-on, time-tested methods that will help you to realize your potential in the fine art of drawing.
This introductory-level class will offer a structured method of learning various Hip Hop dance movements in a fun-filled and vibrant class environment, and offers a new set of combinations and routines each week. The dancers will work on strength and core exercises as well as their own free style moves.
All instructors are fully qualified to teach in their area of expertise. When necessary, assistants are hired to keep adult – child ratios at optimal levels. All Averitt Center employees undergo a criminal background check. The Averitt Center for the Arts takes a strong stand against child endangerment. Parents of young children are welcome to observe from outside the classroom if they desire.
